I am a journalist from southwest Michigan. I have a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Western Michigan University. While there, I also completed a reporting internship for the Three Rivers Commercial-News in Three Rivers, Michigan where I did photography, reporting and some copy editing.
After graduation, I did freelance work for a little while before I moved to Wyoming and worked for a short time at a twice-weekly newspaper there. I later returned to Michigan and worked full-time as a freelance journalist for about four years. My work at the outdoor website Wide Open Spaces eventually earned me a full-time staff writer position with them in 2020. I still contribute regularly on the side to the South County News based out of Vicksburg, Michigan. I regularly cover sports, education and local government in the Vicksburg and Schoolcraft areas.
Outdoor writing suits me well as I have a real love for photography and the outdoors. I'm also working on a travel book focusing on geocaching.
I originally studied graphic design before making a change in my career path. But I gained experience in Photoshop, InDesign and several other programs. I also have experience in uploading stories and photos to the web and the use of SEO. I have also dabbled in web design and more recently, YouTube vlogging.
